About Gour Mahavidyalaya
In 1985, Gour Mahavidyalaya was founded. It is situated in the district Malda in West Bengal. GM is located on the Mahananda River's north bank. It is a private college that is also linked with Gour Banga University. The NAAC has given Gour Mahavidyalaya Malda the B+ grade. Undergraduate courses in Arts and Science (B.Sc and BA) are available at Gour Mahavidyalaya College.
The Gour Mahavidyalaya consists of nearly 70+ academic staff and 7000+ Students. The GM College was started on September 05, 1985, in a small room. But within a short period, they developed the college with good facilities. They also built a library in an area of 4080.28 sq. ft. The GM library has a vast collection of books. On September 05, 1985 Gour Mahavidyalaya college started its journey in a small area with no facilities. Slowly, they developed their college into a large area with all facilities. The Gour Mahavidyalaya University Campus has an Internet facility also.
Gour Mahavidyalaya Infrastructure
Gour Mahavidyalaya has a good infrastructure. It has large, well-ventilated classrooms and laboratories. Aside from that, the college has a library, computer centre, seminar room, student health centre and canteen, workshops, Voluntary Service, and a career counselling cell, among other things.

The facilities available in Gour Mahavidyalaya University Malda are as follows
Hostel – Gour Mahavidyalaya is providing a hostel facility for both girls and boys.
Library – The Library is constructed in a 4080 sq. ft. area. It consists of nearly 30,000+ books. Book Bank facility is also there for poor Students. Separate reading rooms are there for students and teachers. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s publications are a special collection in this library.
NSS – They work with local NGOs to help in personality development and also to provide welfare for rural areas.
Games and Sports – Every year GM University Malda conducts games for their students. to encourage them, they also give awards and prizes to winners and runners.
Student Health Room – A student health room is also there on campus. If any student feels sick, then he/she can go to that room and take some rest. Emergency medicine and first aid kits are available for students 24/7 at any time.
Important Rules of GM University Malda
- Students are given books for two weeks (15 days). However, the authorities will choose the time span for some specific works.
- The borrower is responsible for replacing any books that are lost, damaged, or defaced.
- Special books, such as reference books, single copies, and out-of-print books, are not issued and must be kept at the library.
- In the Demand Box, just the Demand slip should be placed.
- If a library card is misplaced, a fee of Rs 5 (five rupees) must be paid at the Cash Counter for each card.
- Borrowed books are non-transferable and should not be passed on to another person.
- To use any section of the library, always have your library card with you.
